Yesterday we had some much needed tree removal and pruning performed at the house by the good folks at Barlett Tree Experts. We had several trees that were right up against the roofline and were also too close to the foundation. On the north side of the house we had a Maple tree and two overgrown shrub stumps removed. On the back of the house we had a monstrous Bay Laurel and two Laburnums taken out. Our Evergreen Oak on the corner of the house is rare and old, so we decided that it would be a shame to get rid of it and opted to prune it back from the roofline and thin it out a bit. We left our Apple trees of course, and we’ll get some pruning done on them later down the road when it’s in the budget. The difference now that the problem trees are gone is just incredible. From the inside of the house the amount of natural light that now gets into the hallway, second bedroom, and bathroom makes it feel like a completely different house. From the outside most of the spookiness factor has been removed in the backyard, and I can now start to get a much better idea of how it all could look once we landscape and put in a deck. I can now access the gutters for cleaning, and furry creatures will have a much more difficult time of finding their way up to our roof.
